KBC Newsletter – 10/6/14
Welcome to this week’s edition of news from Kirsty Broun Cycling!
Training – the weeks that were
In the last two weeks we focused on longer efforts, resistance to fatigue and learning to ride at anaerobic threshold. This type of training is particularly useful for both road racing and time trialling. However, if racing is not your thing, anaerobic threshold work is metabolically challenging, meaning that fitness levels are improved and for the weight watchers, the body’s ability to utilise fat as fuel both during training and at rest is enhanced.
Kirsty Broun Racing – Men’s team up and racing!
Last weekend saw the introduction of the KBR men’s team as together with the women they competed in the Balmoral Metropolitan Championships in both the criterium at Murrarie and the road race, held at Mount Alford. A hard weekend of racing for the men and women of Kirsty Broun Racing, and congratulations to all the team, with special mention going to our podium rider of the weekend Stephen Rashleigh who finished 3rd in the road race on the Sunday. It is great to see the KBR colours out on the course and everyone giving their best effort.
Wattbike Training – Urban Rowing, West End
If you want to take your fitness to the next level, Wattbike sessions are an excellent tool to help you do just that. Each session focuses on a different variable of fitness, choreographed to your favourite music! Each session costs $20.00 and must be pre-booked beforehand. Times available are – Wednesday 12.15pm, Wednesday 6.30pm and Thursday 5.30pm. Please contact me to book a spot, as there are only 8 spots available per session and they fill up fast.
Rider of the Month
Congratulations goes to Gary Weis for getting Rider of the Month for June. In the last couple of months he has lifted his training and it is showing in his performance. He is now matching it with the best of the men and proving a invaluable member of the Kirsty Broun Racing Team. Well done Gary, I cannot wait to see what this year brings for you.
